This brief collaboration with D&AD and HarperCollins asked young designers to create a new brand identity for one of the best-selling book series of our time – The Chronicles of Narnia.
My entry focused on traditional book cover branding styles. The branding attempts to evoke the narrative themes of adventure and magical exploration in the mysterious land beyond the portal of the famous wardrobe.
The branding design aims to pique the interest of young readers wanting to have both an imaginative scenario and their sense of a journey, a quest, where the characters courage is tested. The suggestion of heralding for my logo feature was inspired by the quest narrative genre which has become very popular in recently produced stories for younger readers, which referenced the gothic a lot in their settings.
